Signifiance and Influence

The C.G. Jung Institute acts as a host to an on-going, public lecture series, and serves as the publisher of numerous works in the field. Abroad, it is known as a centre of scientific inquiry, and as a conveyor of Jung's intellectual and cultural heritage. Within its first fifty years, the Institute has granted 857 diplomas, 448 to women, and 409 to men. Among these graduates are a number of medical doctors, many of whom are specialists in psychiatry. In recent times, some 300 students have typically been registered for the training program each year.
Today, there are over 2300 Jungian Psychotherapists in all five regions of the globe, all of whom share historical roots in Zurich. Organized through the International Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP) http://www.iaap.org., they belong to 36 national or regional societies. In many regions—particularly in the USA—a large number of training institutes have arisen that provide a considerable amount of ground-level psychotherapeutic care. Since the opening of the iron curtain in 1989 the Jung Institute has become active in creating opportunities for psychotherapeutic training in former East Block countries.
